Ceiling Painting Services
A poorly painted ceiling shows immediately. We get it right the first time with the correct paint, roller nap, and consistent technique across the full surface.

Smooth Ceiling Painting
Roller marks, lap lines, and patchy coverage all become visible once the room is lit. We use quality ceiling white in two full coats with adequate drying time between. The result is even, flat coverage with no visible lines.
Artex Ceilings
Artex was widely applied during the 1970s and 1980s. Light Artex in good condition can be repainted. Heavier texture may be worth skim plastering to achieve a flat surface. We assess and advise on which approach makes sense for your room.
Cornicing and Ceiling Roses
Cornicing is a feature of most Georgian and Edwardian properties in Cheshire. These features need hand-finishing at every profile. Precise hand-cutting at the ceiling and wall junction produces a sharper line than tape alone.
Water Staining and High Ceilings
Water stains on ceilings come from roof leaks or condensation. Standard ceiling white will not cover an active stain. We apply a specialist stain-blocking primer before any finish coat. For high ceilings, we use portable scaffold towers for safe, consistent results.
Here’s How It Works
1. Ceiling Assessment
We check the ceiling surface in detail. We note condition, type of texture, water stains, and ceiling height. Any repairs needed before painting are included in the quote.
2. Repairs and Stain Blocking
Cracks and holes are filled and sanded. Water stains are treated with stain-blocking primer. Loose or flaking Artex is stabilised or we advise on replastering. For new-build or renovated rooms, see our plasterboard and ceiling painting guidance for fresh board preparation.
3. Cutting In at the Perimeter
The ceiling edge is cut in precisely against the cornice or wall junction. Moulded profiles are finished by hand at the detail. Period cornicing and ceiling roses are hand-cut for precision.
4. Rolling and Covering
The main ceiling area is rolled in two full coats. Each coat is allowed adequate drying time. We maintain consistent pressure and speed across the full surface to avoid lap marks.
5. Final Inspection
We inspect the finished ceiling in good light. Touch-ups are completed before we leave. Any drips onto walls or woodwork below are addressed before closing the job.
